E-commerce Order & Notification Automation

Event-driven alerts and queue workers so new orders reach the operations team without manual checking.

Backend / automation LaravelMySQLQueuesWebhooks

Overview

Retail and wholesale shops should not depend on someone refreshing an admin panel to learn about a new order. This automation pattern listens for order events, validates the payload, and dispatches queued notifications to email or messaging endpoints the business already uses.

The same pipeline can attach invoice snippets, customer phone numbers, and line items formatted for a phone screen. Failed sends retry with backoff instead of silently dropping sales on busy days.

Problem

Orders arrived in the database but staff only noticed them when someone opened the dashboard hours later.

Solution

Domain events after checkout, idempotent notification jobs, and structured logs so support can see what was sent and when.

Architecture

Application code raises an order-placed event. A queue worker formats the message and calls the notification channel. Secrets and API keys live in environment configuration.

Challenges

Duplicate notifications when a webhook retries. Idempotency keys and job uniqueness prevent double texts to a warehouse phone.

Outcomes

Operations gets notified at order time. Exact delivery metrics are tracked per deployment, not invented in this portfolio.
